It’s Monday so let’s spend some time doing a little Monday morning quarterbacking.
A lot happened over the weekend in the world of sports but, like usual, football is stealing the show.
We wait all week for college football and NFL action and boy did they deliver.
In today’s Rundown we’ll retract our view of Brady, highlight major injuries and the Atlanta Falcons.
Let’s get started…
Brady Looked… Good?
In our last Monday morning quarterback segment, we drilled in on Brady. He looked rusty. But it was just game one and he proved he still has it in game two.
A 31-17 win against a struggling Carolina Panthers team was pretty smooth. Brady completed 23 of 35 passes for just 217 yards but added on touchdown.
He did what he needed to do and, more importantly, he didn’t throw a pick.
Still, I’m not getting too high on Brady just yet.
Brady and the Buc’s have lost to a decent Saints team, only to bounce back against a Carolina team that is starting the season 0-2.
It was a divisional game, so it’s a big win for the team. But if Carolina is one of the worst teams in the league this year, and that’s a possibility from what we have seen, then it doesn’t say much about Brady just yet.
Next week the Buc’s get the Broncos a little tougher matchup on both sides of the ball.
Week Two’s Mile Long Injury List
It’s as long my kids Christmas lists – combined.
I figured we would see more injuries this year, without more practices and preseason games, players would be tighter and may make more mistakes.
But to see so many big ones in a single week is still surprising.
The 49ers lost four players in during their game – star defensive end Nick Bosa, starting quarterback Jimmy Garappolo, running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman, plus a defensive tackle Solomon Thomas.
Bosa and Thomas are suspected to have season ending injuries, while Mostert needs an MRI.
Two other star running backs in the league, likely drafted in the first round of your fantasy league, suffered injuries. Christian McCaffrey is set to undergo an MRI on his ankle, but they are hoping he won’t be out long. Saquon Barkley isn’t so lucky. While he still needs an MRI, those around him said they fear it is a torn ACL – meaning his season is over.
Injuries like this can be devasting for either of these teams. It’s going to make the coming weeks extremely difficult and they’ll need some other players to step up.
Let’s hope next week doesn’t see the same kind of barrage of injuries that week two brough.
Onside Kicks – You’re Supposed to Recover Them
This is directed towards the Atlanta Falcons who completely fell apart against the Dallas Cowboys.
Up 20-0 at the end of the first quarter, they let the Cowboys come all the way back in what ended up being a shootout to win it 40-39.
But the comeback isn’t the worst part. The Cowboys had to kick it off with less than two minutes remaining.
All Atlanta has to do is field the upcoming onside kick – and they all stepped back.
When you watch the highlight, it’s like they forgot they were supposed to recover the ball.
I get how it could have seemed like the ball wouldn’t go the full 10 yards, but it’s no excuse for how many Falcons players went AWAY from the ball, to allow the Cowboys the easiest onside kick recovery in history.
The Cowboys kicked a game winning field goal as time expire.
It’s going to be hard to see Atlanta bounce back after two straight weeks of explosive offense, but no defense and special teams.
The Daily Sports Bets Rundown – Daily Recap
Our Elite Daily Bets packages offer four of our top bets every single day.
I introduced an Endless Guarantee over the weekend on my NFL picks. Four picks in one day and if we don’t win all of them, I give you my four best picks for FREE until all four are winners.
There’s no limit to how long you could continue receiving my best picks every single day.
And we came up short. Only two of our NFL picks paid out as the Lions-Packers game went over 50 and Rams Eagles went over 45.5. But the Panthers plus nine and Bills -6.5 came up short.
But there was a lot of interest in my Endless Guarantee. So I’ll put together another special offer for our Walk On package in the coming days. Be on the lookout for that.
If you are an avid sports bettor looking for matchups throughout the year, including all of our NFL picks, and bonus picks in playoffs, then our MVP Package is hands down the way to go. Click here to learn more.
Our “Pick of the Day” bets split over the weekend, winning on the big NCAAF matchup but failing miserably in the WNBA.
We’ll look to bounce back today with another top matchup for the “Pick of the Day.”
Meanwhile, our “Pick of the Week” hit last night as the Seattle Seahawks found a way to win by more than four points.
That’s all for now.
