There’s nothing stopping the NFL – until COVID-19 hit.
One of the few sports that hasn’t had to deal with it yet, will soon come to a harsh reality this fall.
They’ve agreed to a “pay-not-to-play” package with players, rewarding them hundreds of thousands of dollars to not play. And guess what is happening? Players are dropping out left and right.
A few high profile names so far: Marquise Goodwin, the speedy Eagles wide receiver. Patrick Chung, a star New England safety. Dont’a Hightower, New England’s three-time Pro Bowl line backer.
And this is only over the past few days. Several other guards, tackles and special teams players are opting to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend time with family and take the year off.
It’s amazing what happens when you opt to pay people not to work.
Without a bubble situation for the NFL season, this is going to be a trainwreck. The MLB season will be a great example. With the latest news that the Marlins are postponing six more games while they deal with a minor outbreak of the virus.
Last minute delays and major set backs are going to be common.
The NFL better be prepared.
In the meantime, we’ll continue banking on the games still being played to maximize our bets.
Our latest “Pick of the Day” is on the Cleveland Indians vs Chicago White Sox.

Today’s Rundown features the MLB, because it’s the only major sport taking place. The NBA tips off tomorrow and we’ll have a top bet on one of those matchups. But let’s run through some of the MLBs biggest matchups today.
The Daily Sports Bets Rundown
The Toronto Blue Jays (+138) take on the defending champs, the Washington Nationals (-162). The Nationals have struggled so far, but have had to face top teams in the league. The Blue Jays offer a weaker opponent, but don’t overlook the 3-2 team. A slight underdog at home may be the edge they need to beat the Nationals.
Next up, the Chicago Cubs (-104) face the Cincinnati Reds (-110). The Reds are the slight favorite, but with a 1-4 at home record, there’s nothing to scare the Cubs today. They are 2-0 on the road, a winning streak that won’t last forever. But gives them confidence coming to Cincinnati.
The biggest possible upset today is between the Seattle Mariners (+182) and the Los Angeles Angels (-210). Both teams have losing records so far this year, which makes for an interesting underdog matchup. But it will be tough for the Mariners to steal a win on the road. The Angels are a team that may let it slip.
