Today’s “Pick of the Week” is a one-sided battle between the Eastern Kentucky Colonels and Marshall Thundering Herd.

Eastern Kentucky Colonels vs Marshall Thundering Herd
A 23.5 point favorite today, the Herd are looking forward to their opening game.
The home team against a much weaker opponent is the perfect matchup.
Since picking Marshall to win is paying out -3,000, that isn’t worth our money. The spread makes it interesting, at 23.5 points, I’m still leaning in favor of Marshall.
But, as I mentioned in a recent Rundown, I expect to see defenses sucking wind sooner than normal.
And that’s going to open up games in these first few weeks to tilt towards more scoring. Which is why I’m taking the over today.
FanDuel has it pegged at 52.5.
Marshall was supposed to be playing ECU today but, due to the pandemic, they are facing EKU. Just something about the times we are in today.
But it means the teams were not well prepared for each other.
Marshall is getting most of their offense back, with eight starters returning. Now they look to become more powerful on that side of the ball this year. While their defense was solid in 2019, they are losing five starters, bringing question marks about how they will come together.
This all points to more scoring today. And that’s why we are taking the over.
FanDuel is paying out -110 for picking the combined score to be over 52.5. That means a $100 bet will give you the chance at a profit of $90.91, a 90.91% gain. If you are looking for a chance to win $100 on this matchup, you’ll need to put up $110.
For us to win, we need the combined score between the two teams to add up to 53 points or more. If it adds up to 52 points or less, we stand to lose the bet.
