You know fantasy football is back when your commish updates the draft date to September 6th, right around the corner.
It feels like it was just yesterday that I won the Henny Cup, our leagues pride and joy… along with the winnings of course.
With everything going on for the NFL, opt-outs, bubbles and potentially no fans, it’s hard to have a grip on who to draft this year.
But I have a hard and fast strategy that puts me in the top of the pack every year.
And I’ll share my secret approach with you today.
It’s All About the Fantasy Football Strategy
Don’t worry, the draft won’t make or break your fantasy football year. But a bad draft will make you stay active in the waivers all year round. Here’s how to set the tone with a great draft.
I approach the draft the same way every year – take the best available.
I’m not talking about the first few rounds, there you can pick and choose between the top guys. But once you get to round four, the field thins quickly.
I stick to the best available running backs and wide receivers (shhhh, that’s the secret).
You’ll see teams drafting a defense in round three. Or a kicker, a freak’n kicker, in round four. I laugh when I see a QB go off the board. It just gives me better offensive players to stack my team.
Not only do I take an RB or WR in the first three rounds, I’ll continue to draft them until my bench is filled.
Don’t worry about bye weeks either. Odds are your team will be different by mid-season anyways.
Everyone gets caught up on finder the sleepers in fantasy football.
To tell you the truth, I’ve never won from finding a sleeper.
I take the top ranked WRs and RBs on the board in rounds four through seven. By then, your starters and bench will be pretty filled with top tier RBs and WRs. Now it’s time to knock out some of the other positions.
Kicker and defense are literally my last two picks every draft.
I’ll take my tight end third to last.
A quarter back can come a little earlier depending on who’s available.
But by prioritizing your draft this way, stacking the offensive players, you’ll have more than enough ammo to come out firing in your fantasy league.
And if you end up with more studs than you can start, look for a trade to build up a weaker position with someone doing well.
In the end, this approach sets you up for fantasy football success, and bragging rights in your league.

Today’s Rundown features some major underdogs. One in the MLB, major odds given out in the NBA, and a wild shot for the NHL. Check it out.
The Daily Sports Bets Rundown
Our “Pick of the Day” is on the biggest underdog matchup in the NBA – Orlando Magic (+640) vs Milwaukee Bucks (-950). It was a huge shock to see Orlando beat the Bucks in game one, but can they do it a second time? Who knows. What I do know is it will be a great game, and I have the number one bet on this matchup.
The Los Angeles Lakers (-275) are off to a slow start, falling a game behind to the red-hot Portland Trail Blazers (+225). Even with a win in game one, the sports books still have the Portland Trail Blazers as the underdog with a 6.5 point spread. Maybe Lebron is losing a step with his old age. We’ll see who shows up tonight.
The Seattle Mariners (+215) can’t get out of being a huge underdog against the Los Angeles Dodgers (-250). They have lost two games to the Dodgers, but only by a thin margin. A one run loss in their latest matchup, and a two run loss before that one. These are not the kind of losses that would warrant a +215 point spread.
Over in the NHL, the New York Islanders (+100) just can’t get a break. They lead the series against the Washington Capitals (-120) 3-1, but are still the underdogs ever slightly tonight. Paying an even 100 if they win, the Capitals get the nod at a favorite with lower payout. I’d bet a lot of people are taking the Islanders tonight.
