DSB Rundown: Football, Football and More Football

DSB Rundown: Football, Football and More Football

Yes, we are talking about football today.

While the college games on Saturday were thrilling, NFL’s Sunday lineup is fresh on my mind.

Brady collapsing, Mr. Rodgers owning the neighborhood, and Cam “Superman” Newton and so much more happened yesterday.

I already can’t wait for the double header tonight.

Let’s go through a little Monday morning quarterback with what we saw yesterday.

Brady Doesn’t Look so Brady in Tampa

It was the prime time four o’clock game and the former Patriot didn’t look like much of a future Hall of Famer. Bad reads, overthrown balls and clearly not the legs he is used to.

Don’t get me wrong, he still made a few throws and I know he is not used to his new teammates. But he brought in his former BFF, tight end Rob Gronkowksi. He just didn’t make an impact. Even the few attempts his way were wild throws that had no chance for him to make the catch.

All game long there were these errant throws. Two ended up being picked off, one ran back for a pick-six.

And in the end, Brady couldn’t overcome the hole his team helped him dig.

Tampa looked like a sloppy team all around. The shocking part is that it included the quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers is the Real Deal

If you compared Brady to Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers yesterday, you’d have no idea Brady was the more elite quarterback.

You’d honestly have no idea Brady was an elite quarterback at all, but Arron Rodgers showed he was the real deal.

With some weapons at his disposal, he picked apart and had his way with the Minnesota defense all day.

And it was more than just a crappy defensive effort. It was getting to the plays he liked. Finding the mismatches and putting the ball in the perfect spot.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Rodgers can play at a high level like this all season.

Haskins Sparks a Comeback

With head coach Ron Rivera undergoing going through a treatment at halftime, he wasn’t there to give a peppy halftime speech. That’s where quarter back Dwayne Haskins stepped in.

Trailing by 10 points at halftime, Haskins helped rally the troops to mount a truly impressive comeback and top the Eagles 27-17.

While Haskins sparked it, the defense finished it. Adding eight sacks, it helped them shutdown the Eagles in the second half.

The Football Team is taking on the speedy Arizona Cardinals next week. We’ll see if Haskins has another miracle speech in his toolbox.

Cam “Superman” Newton Gets it Done

Cam Newton’s first game as the New England Patriots quarter back went and got the job done. Going into division rival Miami, if you can call them that, was a great start to the season.

He led the team in rushing, using his legs for the first two touchdowns of the game and totaling 75 yards on the ground. He added 155 yards in the air to cruise to a ten-point win.

It was just the Dolphins. Next Sunday night he and the Patriots get a real test against maybe one of the best teams in the league – the Seattle Seahawks.

I’d put my money on Seattle.
