Today’s Rundown features Astros Zack Greinke taunting the Giants by doing the sign stealing telling them the signs of his pitch.
It’s no subtle message about the Astros cheating scandal that was dealt with earlier this year.
In January, the MLB took pretty severe action to punish the Astros but many believe they should have done more.
After suspending the manager and general manager overseeing the scandal, they also stripped the team of their first and second round draft picks in 2020 and 2021. On top of that, there was a max fine of $5 million on the Astros.
It’s easy to see this punishment as a blow to the team, but I think it hurts the fans most.
This team lost it’s two best draft picks for two years straight. That’s going to be tough to overcome.
And now, even though the players were not punished, we have Zack Greinke making a joke of sing stealing.
Greinke: Out of Line on Sign Stealing
In the game against the Giants, he was calling out his signs, telling the hitters exactly what he’s about to throw.
Fastball, curveball, slider, etc.
They all knew it was coming, but they still couldn’t get the hits.
Clearly he was trying to make a point.
That even though the Astro’s were stealing signs, it wasn’t enough to help them beat better teams. However it’s one thing to know the signs by covertly stealing them, meaning the pitcher had no idea. And playing mind tricks with the batters by telling them a pitch you are “supposedly” about to throw. One still has a bigger edge.
The main point the players want cleared up is that they still won the World Series in 2017, when the cheating scandal was taking place.
No one likes a cheater.
But someone making fun of their own cheating is even worse.
Zack is way out of line here.
Let’s respect the game and get back to credibility, not making fun of the ways you cheat. Whether you use it to your advantage to not, doesn’t matter. It’s the character of a cheater that is the issue.

In today’s Rundown, we’ll look at two big MLB matchups, and one of the seeding games in the NBA.
The DSB Rundown
The Seattle Mariners (+186) go up against the Houston Astros (-215) as the biggest underdog of the day. In their first four matchups this year, the Astros have won three, only allowing the Mariners to steal one. That’s how they have become such a big underdog. But, after the latest tactics in the sign stealing scandal, I’d love for Karma to deliver a loss to the Astros. That tilts the favor towards the Mariners in this one.
With the Texas Rangers (-132) and Colorado Rockies (+116), they have earned the highest over/under of the day – 12.5 runs. It’s a big high though, considering their first games summed up to seven, five and only one run scored the entire game. Tonight’s 12.5 over/under is more of a nod to the Rockies allowing their last three games to go over that amount. The Rangers have only had one game of their first 17 to go that high.
Over in the NBA, the Houston Rockets (-186) take on the Philadelphia 76ers (+156) in a seeding matchup. Basically, there isn’t much on the line tonight. Sure, the Rockets would like a higher seed, but it tends not to bring out the most competitiveness. Without Russell Westbrook, one of their all-stars, it gives the 76ers a shot tonight.
