Thursday Night Football is serving up what I expect to be a decent game as the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins face each other.
This is also going to be our “Pick of the Day” later today. Right now, I wanted to focus on some big story lines to watch tonight, for fantasy, for betting and for the overall NFL.
Let’s get started.
A Battle for Last
I have to be honest.
When you looked at this matchup at the start of the season, before the first snap, and it was looking like a battle for last place in the NFL.
But, here we are in week three, and the Jags already have a win over Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Then they went to the wire with a very strong Tennessee Titan tam.
Miami is 0-2 but had one heck of a game against Buffalo last week. Gesicki did most of the damage, but it was an all-around effort for them to run with the Bills.
And now I’m pumped for this matchup tonight.
I think we are going to have a great ball game on our hands and later today, I’ll send you my top bet for this matchup so you can profit.

The bottom line is that the Jags players didn’t get the memo to tank and while Tua remains on the bench, the Dolphins are finding a passing game that can keep Jacksonville on their toes tonight.
It’s going to be fun to watch and one of these teams could find themselves in the playoffs later this year…
Tanking? Forgot to Tell Minshew
The front office in Jacksonville have done everything they can to tank this season to get Trevor Lawrence with the number one overall pick.
Trading away and cutting some of their best talent. Did you see Fournette’s late game 46-yard touchdown run? The man is still in his prime.
Undrafted rookie James Robinson has filled in nicely and done a good job, but he is no Fournette.
Meanwhile, Gardner Minshew still has the magic. No one told him to tank the season and he is out there playing his heart out – 512 yards, six touchdowns and two picks in the first two games.
All eyes will be on him tonight as he squares off against Fitzmagic and the Dolphins.
Will Gesicki Show Up Again
Mike Gesicki, the Dolphins tight end, went to town last week on the Buffalo Bills with eight catches and 130 yards plus a touchdown.
Stats like that from a number one receive would be expected. But a tightend that hasn’t done hardly any damage for years? Now we are talking about something that clicked.
Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins have found their mismatch and it’s by stretching out the field with Gesicki. He was targeted a team high 11 times.
The only question now is if this was a fluke. Maybe the coverage dictated it. Or Fitzpatrick is finding a rhythm with his tight end.
Only time will tell, but it is something to watch closely tonight from a fantasy perspective.
If you have Gesicki, start’em!
