There’s a lot to celebrate down south, even without a championship this year.
The Miami Dolphins showed up last Thursday for a big win. The Miami Hurricanes are rolling in the NCAAF. The Miami Marlins are in the MLB playoffs with a chance to advance. Even the Florida Panthers, who are near Miami, made it to the NHL playoffs for the first time in a while.
But the big news of the day is the Miami Heat making it to the NBA Finals.
Coming in as the presumed underdog, it has the city of Miami buzzing.
It’s also going to be our “Pick of the Day.” If you want access to this pick, we have the perfect package – the Fan Club. It gives you all of our number one picks, every day, for an entire year. All for just over $0.30 per pick. You can’t beat it. Click here to join today.
There are a few big story lines going on here, but the fact Lebron has to go through a Dewayne Wade-less Heat for a potential title is at the top of my list.
The Title Goes Through Miami
It would only be better if Lebron had to go through Cleveland Cavaliers. But seriously. For the Heat, the fifth seeded team in the east, to make it to the Finals is historic.
Adding in it’s Lebron and the Lakers they get to play is even better.
Lebron desperately needs another title. Let’s face it, he is aging. While he is like a fine wine and still getting better, he is having to rely on stars around him like Anthony Davis.
And ever since Lebron left Miami abruptly, there’s been some bitter blood between the two. Pat Riley calling him out for running, rumors he wanted the head coach fired and ultimately, he was looking to pair up with more talent.
Now, he is facing a Heat team that has rallied as the underdog throughout the entire playoffs and are not backing down tonight.
At the end of this Finals, there’s going to be even more tensions between Lebron and the Heat, regardless of how it ends up.
75-to-1 Odds
Anyone have the Heat to win it all at the start of the season? You’d be a few games away from a possible huge payday. At 75-to-1 odds, no one was counting on them to be here.
Maybe the Covid-19 related break helped them catch a second wind and make this run, but this is easily the lowest team to make it to the finals based on the odds in the last 30 years.
But don’t tell Jimmy.
Their all-star Jimmy Butler is not calling them the underdogs.
“A really good team,” Butler said Tuesday, during the NBA’s annual Finals media day, of how he views the Heat entering this series. “That’s it. A really good team. Not going to say that we’re any better than anybody else, but I just don’t think that we’re underdogs. I don’t.
“But at the end of the day we’re going to do this our way, the Miami Heat way, and that way has worked for us all year long.”
And why not? It has worked for them to this point. Whether they use it as a chip on their shoulder or not, this is one dangerous team for the Lakers to face in the Finals.
That’s all for today.
