A Milwaukee Bucks Boycott that Expanded
First it was corona postponing games, now it’s boycotts.
If you haven’t heard by now, the Milwaukee Bucks decided to boycott game five against the Orlando Magic after a recent police shooting of Jacob Blake in their home state.
It set off a series of boycotts, including the rest of the NBA (bummed about that) and the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds game in the MLB.
Politics aside, this is going to be a complete joke if the NBA throws in any other demands other than racial issues into their talks. In other words, they don’t get to go home. They don’t get to throw in crazy, unrelated demands into these talks and get away with it. Stay focused on the issues at hand.
Now, as long as the season isn’t canceled, though that is on the table, it could have major implications for odds in rescheduled games.
Who knows, with a delayed game, Orlando could get their star forward Aaron Gordon back. He was listed as questionable heading into game five, and only moved to “out” a few hours before.
With some extra time to get healthy, he could be a difference maker in a must-win game five for Orlando.
The Blazers could see their all-star, Damian Lillard get healthy. He was the reason for our first “Pick of the Day” yesterday, basically that the Blazers didn’t stand a chance without him.
But with a few more days of rest, he could be back and put pressure on the Lakers.
It’s going to be something to watch unfold over the next few days.
The big matchups in today’s Rundown are all scheduled to be played as of this morning. Of course, that could change.
The Daily Sports Bets Rundown
Our “Pick of the Day” yesterday paid out on the over between the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. As long as hockey can play again today, that will likely be our place to find opportunities.
Some of the mismatches in the MLB are the Minnesota Twins (-156) going up against the Detroit Tigers (+136). The Twins have a 20-12 record this year, while the Tigers have won just 13 games. They are also not very strong at home, with a 6-10 record. But Minnesota has played decent on the road, 8-9. The Twins are a clear favorite and likely cover the spread.
The Baltimore Orioles (+164) will try to topple the Tampa Bay Rays (-190) on their home turf. The Rays have a better record, but they can’t look past a good Orioles team. Both starting pitchers have yet to get a victory, so someone walks away with a win tonight.
Two game threes in the NHL today, with both series tied at 1-1.
First up is the Philadelphia Flyers (+100) vs the New York Islanders (-120). The Flyers were the better team heading into this, but the Islanders are not going without a fight. With the series even, it’s anyones game. The odds reflect a pretty even matchup, it’s just a matter of picking the right winner to get the payout.
Next up is the Vegas Golden Knights (-200) vs the Vancouver Canucks (+170). The Knights are a big favorite, even though the Canucks have showed they can win. They will likely win another before the series is over, which makes a +170 bet pretty tempting. I want to see how tonight goes before taking the underdog though.
