The MLB is heading for a bubble environment after they had to postpone (and likely cancel) two regular season games due to a couple of positive coronavirus cases with the Miami Marlins.
Miami’s home opener against the Orioles was postponed, as well as the Phillies game against the Yankees since Miami was just in Philly.
This is the type of trickle effect you can expect when these teams are getting together in a normal environment, aka outside of a bubble.
More than likely, over the next few weeks, a plan to put the MLB in a bubble much like the NHL, MLS and NHL are doing.
There was a resistance at the MLB to take the bubble approach, since they are still operating with the full league, and not a playoff-like scenario like we are seeing in the other three sports that went the bubble route.
But after this minor outbreak, the only way the MLB is going to finish the season is in a bubble. And it’s going to have an impact on bets, games and the championship.
How the Bubble Impacts Players
You know how teams always play worst on the road, and it gives the home team an advantage? Well, the bubble evens that out for both teams.
Everyone is away from their friends and family for an extended time.
Trapped in a bubble, they are removed from a normal life. Players won’t feel the same, on or off the field.
Look for fatigue to set in sooner than usual, especially since training camps and workouts have been cut short.
The pandemic doesn’t like sports, that’s one thing we know.
But hopefully the bubble environment will help us get through one full season, of either the MLB or NFL.

The second MLS game is the Portland Timbers (-140) and FC Cincinnati (+310). Based on the odds the Timbers are a huge favorite, but Cincinnati has made it this far, so don’t count them out.
Atlanta Braves (+112) take on the Tampa Bay Rays (-128). The Rays are coming off a dominant win against the Braves at home and are looking to add to it. Tampa Bay has started with a 3-1 record and look to keep it climbing. The 2-2 Braves will do what they can to not have a losing record.
Another great game is the St. Louis Cardinals (+108) vs the Minnesota Twins (-124). Both teams are 2-1 after their first three games, but Minnesota gets the home matchup. That’s why they have a slight advantage in the odds. While we still have home games, and no bubbles, it will help find winning teams.
