DSB Rundown: MLB is Down to Four

DSB Rundown: MLB is Down to Four

It was a busy weekend for NCAA football, the NFL, basketball and soccer. But don’t forget about the MLB.

The field is down to four teams, the Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves.

The Rays and Astros have game three tonight, which the Rays lead 2-0 and the Dodgers and Braves are on game two.

Here’s what to watch…

MLB Matchups

So far, the first two games in the ALCS and last nights game on between the Braves and Dodgers have been very low scoring. 2-1, 4-2, and 5-1, look more like a hockey or soccer game instead of major league baseball.

But it speaks to the talent of the pitchers in these top four teams.

They are leading the way making every hitter earn it. We’ll see a few breakout games wit runs shooting up as these pitchers get fatigued, but for now, what they are doing is working.

The favorite to win the World Series, the Tampa Bay Rays, are off to a 2-0 start against the Houston Astros.

No one in baseball, other than some Houston fans, wants Houston to make it to the World Series. After falling behind by two games, it doesn’t seem likely they will make it there this year.

The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers kept it tight in game one, staying tied at 1-1 all the way to the 9th inning. Then the Braves came alive.

Being able to steal one early in the series likes this turns the pressure on the Dodgers. Game two, Los Angeles needs to bounce back and even up the series. Falling behind 2-0 in a best of seven isn’t impossible to come back from, but it gets a heck of a lot tougher.

Los Angeles Sports

Don’t look now, but a few other Los Angeles teams could be at following the Lakers. The first up is clearly the Los Angeles Dodgers.

There’s only four teams left and the Dodgers and Rays are the two favorite teams to make it to the World Series.

They could just be weeks away from welcoming another title to the city.

But my attention is on the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers.

The new name, new look Chargers are making moves in the league behind rookie Justin Herbert. It was sad to see Tyrod Taylor get benched after being injured by the teams doctors, but Herbert is making the most of it.

They have had some tough matchups lately, the defending Super Bowl champs with the Chiefs, the Tom Brady lead Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.

But he has been impressive in each one and the wins will start to follow, it just didn’t fall right last night. Look for them to finish the season on a high note for the city of Los Angeles.

Even the LAFC in the MLS is a potential competitor this season.

Something to keep an eye on for those of you in LA, or an LA fan.

That’s all for today.
