DSB Rundown: We Have Ourselves a World Series for the Ages

DSB Rundown: We Have Ourselves a World Series for the Ages

Two of baseballs best teams are set to battle in a best of seven series for the championship. We don’t get a lovely Cinderella story or a huge underdog that we can cheer for.

But we get a treat as the two best teams in the league square off – the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Tampa Bay Lightning already won the Stanley Cup this year, and now the MLB Tampa Bay team is just a couple games away from bringing the city another title. Not to mention Tom Brady is with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looking to take them to the Super Bowl.

It’s a long shot, but Tampa could have three major league champions in a row.

Game One Starts Tonight

Who’s ready for some baseball?

You know, no matter what league, what sport I’m into at the time, the best of the best always grabs your attention.

I saw the NBA Finals game had the lowest rating in years, a 70% drop in viewership.

And when you think about it, it wasn’t the best of the best for the season. The Heat were playing at a high level, but the bubble and injuries changed up the landscape of the Finals match.

Once the Lakers had a big lead in the first quarter, who’s going to watch – just Laker and Heat fans. Plus, there was an MLB playoff game on and an NFL game. Plenty of sports entertainment to compete with.

The MLB has the benefit of the two best teams battling and only the NFL to pull eyes away.

That’s going to give them a ratings boost that may top what they have seen before, but fans still love a great story. And two of the best are lacking that national appeal to the human spirit.

I know one thing for certain, I’ll be tuning in.

Betting on a Game Seven

Everyone loves game sevens. It’s the stuff fans live for and players love. Winner takes all.

If we end up with a game seven in this series, picking the right winner of the series could pay out handsomely.

A bet on the Dodgers to win the series in a game seven, 4-3, pays out +400.

But, if you like the somewhat underdog Rays, a 4-3 victory for them pays out +500.

Both are much juicer than picking them to win it outright.

The Dodgers are favored, so it only pays out -210.

Since the Rays are the underdogs, they can get you +165 if they take it all at any point in the series.

Plenty of options betting on this matchup. I love a game seven. And seeing as these two teams are very even, on paper and on the field, I love betting on a game seven for the World Series.

Dodgers are Favored

Don’t look now, but before game one the Los Angeles Dodgers are favored to win it all.

After rallying back from being down 3-1 to the Atlanta Braves, on the verge of being swept, they rallied to win four in a row and make it to the World Series.

The Dodgers will look to use that momentum they found to grab their fourth playoff win in a row. Another slow start would put them in a bad position.

This isn’t the Braves. The Tampa Bay Rays were the second best in the regular season and have a ton of confidence coming into tonight’s game.

Whoever can win game one gets the upper hand in the series, so tonight is a huge game even though it is just the beginning.

That’s all for today.
