As the NHL takes a break and the NBA nears the end of the Finals, we’ll have a few playoff MLB games, NCAA football and the NFL to carry us for the next few weeks.
But the MLS is also offering several top bets throughout the week with games like today.
12 matchups, 24 teams, all kicking off at 7pm EST or later.
Toronto FC, the top team in the league, gets a date with the New England Revolution. The Revolution are looking to bounce back after a scoreless draw in their last game, but they get a tough matchup against the best team in the league. This is a pretty big game with the best team in the league, and the odds are evenly matched between the two – paying out +150 for taking either team to win.
Don’t forget, in soccer, draws are very common, but not common enough to predict.
The second-best team in the league, based on the latest power rankings, has Orlando City SC holding that spot. Orlando made it to the finals in the MLS is back tournament in August and have carried that momentum to this season. They get a matchup with Atlanta United FC, one of the lower ranked teams in the league. Orlando City is only a slight favorite though, +140 if they win compared to +160 for Atlanta to win. A clear mismatch in the game, but not in the odds, may be something to take advantage of.
Columbus Crew is the third best team and they face Montreal Impact later tonight. Now we finally see what a true underdog looks like. The sportsbooks are only paying out -260 for the Crew to win. But if Montreal can win, it would pay out +550 for taking them. The Impact are ranked just two below Atlanta, which gets an even matchup against Orlando.
You can start to see how this matchups and mismatches begin to make some excellent betting opportunities, just looking at three games. By the time you go through all 12, you’ll have even better matchups.
That’s all for today.
