DSB Rundown: Big Day of MLS Matchups!

DSB Rundown: Big Day of MLS Matchups!

Even with no NHL, no NBA, and baseball wrapping up the World Series there is still a ton of games to watch every single week.

The NFL is taking over the week these days, with random Tuesday night games this season due to COVID-19, but we’ll have to wait till Thursday this week for the next matchup.

To help hold us over we have nearly a dozen MLS matchups on tap for today.

Some big games and even better bets.

Here’s today’s Rundown…

MLS Playoffs are Shaping Up

It feels like just the other day we had the MLS is Back tournament over in Orlando, Florida.

And here we are, just a couple of months later, and the MLS is getting ready for another round of playoffs.

The MLS Cup, as they call it, is set to begin on November 20 and name a champ on December 12.

Playoffs are always fun to watch, but what may be more exciting is watching the field get made.

A total of 18 teams will qualify for the postseason, and right now only four teams in the Eastern Conference have clinched playoffs – Toronto FC, Philadelphia Union, Columbus Crew and Orlando City SC.

None out of the Western Conference. And we only have a week and a half to the final day of the regular season – November 8th.

With only two or three games left, each game becomes crucial in a step in or out of the playoffs.

Minnesota United FC vs Colorado Rapids

Minnesota is looking to build on a five-game win streak as they face the Colorado Rapids on their home field. They in a position to walk into the playoffs, but they can’t afford to fall back in these last couple of games.

Colorado is still in the hunt, but on the outside looking in.

The last thing Minnesota needs to do is overlook this competitive club at home. They could easily begin focusing on tougher opponents and fall asleep in this game.

While Colorado is behind the top eight, they are within striking distance, which makes this an interesting game.

It’s all about the points, and Colorado will look to get back on track after having seven consecutive matches postponed due to COVID-19 related issues.

They got skunked in their first game back by Sporting Kansas City so they are hoping to rebound tonight.

LAFC vs Houston Dynamo

LAFC is healthy with their MVP Carlos Vela and they are hoping for a run here just as the playoffs are getting underway.

They are sitting in fourth in the Western Conference right now and just need to do good enough to coast into the playoffs.

An easy matchup against the Houston Dynamo may be just what they need.

The Dynamo are in 10th in the West, hoping to make some waves with an upset tonight.

It’s safe to say the Dynamo are in a situation where they have to win the rest of their games if they want a chance. It’s a lot of pressure on these guys and you never know how they’ll respond.

Both teams want to use tonight as statement wins, and the one that pulls it off will be set up for the playoffs.

FC Dallas vs Inter Miami CF

The first time meeting each other, FC Dallas is looking to hold their spot in the playoff race. They are holding onto sixth place (the top eight are in) but can’t risk a loss that would send them lower.

They are coming off a two-game road trip where they failed to score, losing to Nashville and tying Real Salt Lake.

But Inter Miami is playing for a spot as well. A big win over Orlando in their last game has them playing for a spot in the East. We’ll see if that momentum can carry into Dallas today.
