Wow, what a week in the NFL.
Some major upsets, major plays and big news. You got to love it every week.
The big story lines this week were the Tua Tagovailoa being named the week eight starter, the Cowboys first game without Dak Prescott, and the Rodgers verse Brady game.
But there was a lot more going on. The Vikings continued to struggle, the Falcons and Giants got their first wins of the season leaving the Jets the only winless team.
Here’s your Rundown on the NFL…
Tua’s Turn
In an abrupt turn, Tua is taking center stage when the Dolphins come back from their bye week.
Tua Tagovailoa is their future, but they chose to let him sit at the start of the year. Now, in week seven, right before their bye week, they announce it is Tua’s turn when the hit the field again.
I say abrupt because Ryan Fitzpatrick had played well for a veteran. He has the Dolphins off to a 3-3 start, in the hunt after the first six games but he is also coming off back-to-back wins.
He is playing as well as he ever had.
And now Tua is taking over. So it came as a bit of a shock, but was probably what the Dolphins were trying to do from the beginning.
Let Tua sit until the bye week, then give him the reins. He is going to lead this team for years, and the fans are ready for it.
They gave him a standing ovation just for taking the last few snaps of the game.
I picked him up in my fantasy league because why not. Let’s see what he has come week eight.
Jones Not Feeling It
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he’s “not in a feel-good mood” about Dallas and their 2-4 start.
Duh.
They lost their starting quarterback. Then their star running back coughed up the ball on back to back drives. The guys who need to step up were absent on Monday night.
Andy Dalton was seeing his first start outside of a Bengals uniform and he was rusty. Not horrible. I expect them to bounce back and get into a rhythm this week.
But I cant say I was shocked to see them lay a dud on Monday.
Our “Pick of the Day” was taking the Arizona Cardinals to come away with a win, in what I called an “easy win on the road.”
It was spot on.
For Kyler Murray and company, it doesn’t get any easier than that.
Dallas gets a bounce back game against the failing Football Team. But the Cardinals get a date with the roaring Seahawks. A tough matchup, but they may be up for the challenge.
Rodgers and Brady Duel… JK
It was all Bucs in this one.
Rodgers never got out of the first quarter.
After a 10-0 start, it went downhill fast.
Rodgers threw a pick six on their third drive. He came right back, and three plays later, threw another interception.
Not very Rodgers like, but the Bucks turned around and ran one play for the score.
What was a 10-0 lead turned into a 14-10 deficit in just four total plays.
So it wasn’t much of a duel, more like Brady wins again.
The undefeated Packers were supposed to put on a show, but fell apart. Brady finished for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Rodgers went for 160 yards with two picks.
Rodgers has had a few bad games here and there. Look for him to bounce back this week against the Texans this weekend.
