DSB Rundown – Pelican’s Take a Seat before Heading Home

DSB Rundown – Pelican’s Take a Seat before Heading Home

With the New Orleans Pelicans eliminated from the playoffs, they are sitting their two young studs for “precautionary” reasons.

If there were fans at the games, maybe this wouldn’t be the case since they would still want to sell tickets. And people would pay to see Zion and Ingram ball any day of the week.

But with their games in the bubble officially meaningless, they are letting their young players sit it out and get ready for next year.

The League that Got it Right

I don’t think this needs to be said, but let’s just say it. The NHL jumping right into playoff mode was better than the NBA’s few games.

They did this strategically to give their superstar Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans a chance to get in the playoffs.

It was all for show.

Without fans and all the political statements, this feels more like a preseason game where the intensity is dialed back.

The NHL meanwhile jumped right into play in games. This kept the pressure on the players to come out swinging every night. There wasn’t anyone who didn’t control their own fate. And that made for great competitve matchups right out of the gate.

This isn’t likely a scenario we will see again, where we have this long of a break between games, but the NHL is leading the roadmap on how to do a restart.

For today’s rundown, we got an interesting over/under in the NHL, a big underdog in the MLB, plus a look at one a game in the NBA game, plus the MLS final!

The Daily Sports Bets Rundown

The highest over/under in the NHL today is between the Chicago Blackhawks (+165) and the Vegas Golden Knights (-195). They have earned an over/under of 6.5 goals, easily over the next highest of 5.5 goals. Both teams have had high scoring games recently, which helped them earn this over/under, but it’s the first of a best of seven. Things could be tight tonight.

Your biggest underdog in the MLB today is the Baltimore Orioles (+172). They travel to play the Philadelphia Phillies (-200). But these two teams are actually about even. The Orioles have a better record at 7-7 but the Phillies are at home. Still, this is a chance to roll with the underdog and be set for a nice payday.

In the NBA, we’ll take a look at the Boston Celtics (-200) vs the Memphis Grizzlies (+168). Celtics are the clear favorite here. They beat the Grizzlies by more than 20 back in January, but are only favored by five points tonight. Seems like a tempting bet, but the Grizzlies are on the rise looking to get hot for the playoffs. Don’t count them out.

The MLS is down to their final matchup between the Portland Timbers (+165) and Orlando City SC (+135). Winner of this is the champion and it’s set to be a great game. Orlando, the home town team, is a slight favorite. And I love the story with them taking it all tonight. It was basically home games for them, in terms of distance from family, and they have capitalized on it. Stick with the local team for the final.
