Well, the NFL pulled it off.
Even during a pandemic, we’ve had a pretty much regular season. Just a few delays.
And now we have history in the making.
A home team has never played in the Super Bowl until now.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers get to host the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

I’m going out on a limb here, but this game, with two Hall of Fame quarterbacks dueling it out, will come down to the defense.
And not just a final drive stop.
But one defense will make the plays to swing the pendulum back to the saying, “defensive wins championships.”
We all know the Kansas City Chiefs are the most explosive football team in the NFL.
They were last year and they are again this year.
The Bucs have scored a lot of point, but Brady threw for three interceptions two weeks ago. It was their defense that shutdown Packers late in that (plus some bad coaching).
For the Bucs to have a chance, and I’ve counted them out all season, they have to keep the Chiefs under 30 points. That’s their average points scored this season.
Tampa will methodically make some plays down the field, but Brady can not be stuck in a shootout with Patrick Mahomes. He doesn’t have it in him anymore.
He is more of a game manager and clutch in the final two minutes. That’s where the Bucs need to keep this game.
Looking At the Odds
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+144) are coming in as a three point dog in this one.
A field goal could decide this game, only if their defense plays lights out.
The smart money tonight will be on the Kansas City Chiefs (-166) to cover the spread. At -120 odds, we are seeing that get picked up more than the underdog spread.
What seems high to me, is the over/under. Maybe because I’m looking for a defensive battle to decide the game, but it’s at 55.5 points.
Four out of the last ten Super Bowls have gone for more than 55.5 points, and those times were where explosive offense met explosive offense.
They were literally shootouts.
I’m sticking with my belief that Brady doesn’t have it in him. He can’t deliver a shoot out and their defense knows it. For the Bucs to have a chance, this game needs to stay close.
And if it pulls away, I think the Chiefs D will take advantage of it and pick up the slack to keep the Bucs scoring low.
So I’ll do something I don’t normally do, and that’s take the under on tonight’s matchup.
It may be called the curse of home field advantage for the Super Bowl when this game is all said and done, but I would not bet against the Chiefs tonight, regardless of where this is being played.
