I have to admit, this is not what I wanted to see. Trump speaking out about college football was the last thing the sport needed.
In our DSB Rundown a week ago, I warned that the college football playoffs were at risk of being cancelled.
Now it looks like the entire season is at risk.
The Big-10 and Pac-12 conferences have already postponed their fall football season. Others may follow. But with a delay until spring, these sports at the point where the playoffs are off the table.
Sportsbooks are cancelling bets on college football as we speak.
And even president Trump pitched in his opinion on college football: “So I think football is making a tragic mistake.”
Trump’s Right about College Football
I agree.
This is a huge mistake. The kids want to play. Let them make their own call and those that don’t want to play can simply sit out this year. Stop making decisions for everyone, and let the kids have a choice.
My kids have been playing in competitive team sports for months now. Professionals are back playing sports. Why would we hold back college kids that want to play? It makes no sense.
With fall college football in the air, Trumps words may not save the day. We know the sports betting schedule is going to be slim pickings. Still, we’ll find the best opportunities each day.

For today’s rundown, we’ll take a look at the other NHL playoff matchups and a nice over/under in the MLB.
The Daily Sports Bets Rundown
The first NHL playoff game of the day is the Columbus Blue Jackets (+155) and Tampa Bay Lightning (-180). Coming off a historic game one, five overtimes, both of these teams have to be tired. But the Blue Jackets just finished a best of five series that had two overtimes. Should give the edge to Tampa Bay in the rest of the series. But they’ll need the win tonight.
The Blackhawks and Knights are game two of the day, our “Pick of the Day.”
Then there’s a showdown between the Carolina Hurricanes (+125) and Boston Bruins (-145). The Bruins stole a tight game one in yet another overtime matchup. The Hurricanes are no slouch. I find it hard to bet against them in this series. They could easily steal any game, and maybe the series.
Final matchup of the day is the Calgary Flames (-110) and Dallas Stars (-110). This is essentially an even matchup. The Flames get the -1.5 spread, but it pays out a whopping 270. It’s tempting. The Flames won a close one in game one, and have a chance to extend their lead tonight to 2-0 with a solid win. An interesting play on the spread tonight.
Over in baseball, we have a high over/under between the Baltimore Orioles (+165) and Philadelphia Phillies (-185). The sportsbooks have it pinned at 10 scores combined. While it’s the highest on the board for the day, their last matchup went for 19 scores combined. Still, the over is paying even odds, 100. These teams could stay hot for one more game.
