Earlier this week, San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr., an up-and-coming baseball hall of famer, nailed a grand slam with his team up seven.
Great news, right?
At least for San Diego. But even his own staff didn’t come to his rescue. Now the kid is stuck apologizing for playing the game he loves – baseball.
Play to the Whistle Blows
You play until the whistle blows and the fat lady sings. Until it’s all wrapped up, these guys are out there to play ball. Go ahead, put in your back ups and give other players more hits. Make that the standard. But not standing at the plate just because you have a lead in the 8th inning.
Tatis did the right thing, swung at a great ball and hit a grand slam.
The Rangers have lost all respect in the league. After throwing a tantrum when Tatis broke an “unwritten” rule.
It was meant to be broken.
Who cares if it’s part of being a gentlemen in the league. It’s an old tradition that is past it’s time. They were up seven. And I know the odds of a miracle in the 9th is not likely, he is still at bat. He swung and grabbed a grand slam.
Who, in the whole wide world, can blame him for that. Much less guilt trip him into making an apology.
Hopefully, it changes the spirit of the game for years to come. Play to the end.

The Daily Sports Bets Rundown
The continued huge underdog in the MLB is Seattle Mariners (+205). They face the Los Angeles Dodgers (-240) tonight hoping for a big upset. It’s a tale of two teams. The Dodgers have won their last seven games, including two narrow wins over Seattle. But the Mariners have lost seven straight. They want to get things on the right track and beating the Dodgers would do just that. They are getting desperate, and that makes them dangerous tonight.
NBA playoffs have a huge underdog in the Brooklyn Nets (+460) taking on the Toronto Raptors (-750). The payout is massive, but does Brooklyn really have a chance? The Raptors delivered a crushing 24-point win in game one, and look to keep it rolling today. The Nets stole one at home against the Raptors in the regular season, snapping a 15-game win streak for the Raptors. They have a shot at stealing one of these playoff games, which makes a bet on the underdog worth the risk.
In the NHL, a lot of teams have elimination matchups, the Arizona Coyotes (+175) are the biggest underdog though. Behind 3-1 in the series against the Colorado Avalanche, the Coyotes are looking to stay alive. With one win under their belt, they know what it takes to beat Colorado, I just don’t know if they can do it under all the pressure.
The Vancouver Canucks (+125) and St. Louis Blues (-150) are the most even matchup in this round. Sitting at 2-2, one team is looking to up the odds of advancing with a win here tonight. And I got my money on the Blues. They have won the last two, and could ride this momentum for another game or two – that’s all they need. Two of their playoff games have gone to overtime, so look for another close game today.
