Wow, what a weekend packed with sports everywhere you look.
In our Rundown today, we’ll talk everything NFL.
Wilson’s MVP chances, the Bears 3-0 start, Carson Wentz downfall and a pass interference call that changed the game.
But I hope you didn’t miss the wild games with the SEC now in the NCAAF games. It was a historic day filled with huge upsets and big plays.

Wilson for MVP?
After just three weeks of football, the only buzz right now is for Seattle Seahawks quarterback and his 3-0 start. Russell Wilson is due for a vote to be MVP, but it’s too early to say he deserves it this year.
He has some great plays, made some amazing throws and came back to win big games. He’s done it all. And I think he’ll keep doing that this year.
Russ has my vote for MVP already, we just have to see what happens with Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Cam Newton and so on.
After three weeks, the unquestioned MVP is Russell Wilson. We have over a dozen left though. We’ll see how it plays out.
Bears 3-0!
At the start of the season, not many would have seen the Chicago Bears off to a 3-0 start.
It took a 20-point third quarter to come back from a 26-10 deficit, to win it 30-26.
But it wasn’t their normal starting quarterback who led the charge.
Down 26-10, they made the decision to bench Mitchell Trubisky and put in Nick Foles.
Whether Trubisky had the comeback in him or not, we’ll never know. Because Foles came in, moved the ball, but it ended with a pick in the endzone after the receiver couldn’t fight off Dennard with both their hands on the ball.
Foles, Super Bowl LII MVP, helped them mount the comeback. The defense paved the way though, shutting down the high-powered Atlanta offense the rest of the game. At the end of the day, the Bears are off to a 3-0 start and now see themselves in the middle of a QB controversy as they look at who will start week four.
Wentz Downfall…
Speaking of Foles and Super Bowl LII, let’s talk about Carson Wentz.
The season that Foles came in for an injured Wentz in 2017, Wentz looked every bit of a rising quarterback. While Foles earned the starting job while Wentz was hurt, when Foles left, it was Wentz who they expected could pick up right where he left off.
However, last season and this season prove that’s not the case.
Wentz managed to finish with a tie against the Bengals on Sunday, but his stats were below that of the Bengals rookie, Joe Burrow. Completed 29 pass on 47 attempts, for only 225 yards, one touchdown and two picks.
That brings him to four interceptions this year and just two touchdowns, tied for 31st in QBR in the league. There are only 32 teams, so that’s second to last.
Several teams are making QB changes as needed. Bears to Foles. Chargers to Herbert (due to an injury to Taylor). And now we may be looking at a new QB for the Eagles in week four.
PI Gamechangers…
I never like it when a ref decides the game, but that’s exactly what happened between the Bills and Rams.
The Buffalo Bills, lead by Josh Allen, were off to an impressive 21-3 lead at halftime.
Then the Rams started to come back to take the lead 32-28 with four minutes left.
The Bills didn’t threaten to score until the final seconds where an attempt on fourth down to the endzone was called for pass interference.
Without the ref’s call it was game over.
And in the replay, there was no penalty. No excessive contact, extension of the hands or anything that would have drawn a penalty.
This one bad call literally swung the game from a 32-28 win for the Rams, to a quick toss for the Bills to win 35-32. Helped them not only win but cover their two point spread.
