We’ve had quite a few exciting game seven’s, but now it’s back to game one. We’ll stick with the NHL today as we have found success, particularly with over/under spreads and the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues present another great opportunity.
They faced off four times this year, with the Stars winning three of the four. The Blues lost both times at home, scoring just one goal in each game.
In this matchup, the Dallas Stars are the clear underdog despite the regular season strength against the Blues.
We could place a bet on the Stars to cover the spread, but it is only paying -210, meaning a $210 bet is needed to profit $100. A $100 bet would pay out less than $50.
Instead, we’ll focus on the over/under spread.
FanDuel is giving the matchup an over/under of five points.
When you look at the previous four games, it only went over five points one time, when the Stars were the home team and managed to put in five goals on their own. The Blues managed just two, giving it an overall score of seven points.
Three out of four were held at five or less, and that’s the odds I’ll take today.
A bet on the matchup to stay under five points pays out -120, meaning a $120 bet will net $100 in profits. A $100 bet will hand you $83.33 in profit.
All we need is it to be a low scoring game. It’s game one, so defensive will be strong helping keep the scores in check.
To profitable bets,
Ryan
