DSB Rundown: Draft Day’s are Upon Us, Plus a “Pick of the Day”

I’ve already changed my team name in my Fantasy Football chat, UnVaxe’d A-Hole.

It doesnt matter to me if you are vaxxed or not. The hot button topic has gone sideways lately, but at the end of the day, it’s up to us as adults to choose what we want to do. Everyone who is vaxxed is already vaxxed and everyone who hasn’t wanted to, is now being pushed, bribed and straight up forced to get it.

I am truly not vaccinated and most people consider that being an asshole. So when I win the league once again, I get to put that mark on our trophy for life.

But it all begins with our draft.

A stellar draft and look out boys, I’m on my way down the road.

Draft Day’s are Upon Us

While a draft can potentially make or break your team, don’t worry. There’s plenty of opportunities throughout the season to trade and work the waiver wire like a pro to get back in it.

A great draft, makes the rest of the season a breeze though.

So let’s start.

Today, will be all about strategy, not sleepers, no locks. Just strategy and how that sticking to it, can pay off big in the end. But all the work needs to be put in before the clock starts.

Know your scoring.

Some leagues have different scoring methods than a standard system. Such as quarterbacks getting four points or six points for a touchdown. Some leagues offer yards per return, which can come up big for kick returners who are also prominent wide receivers, running backs or defensive players.

And, some leagues including the one I’m in, allow you to draft defensive players individually, not a set team defense. This means you need to know starters, whos moving to the bench, are they in a new spot on D, it’s so much more to cover that figuring this out on draft day puts you way behind the game.

Sometimes, taking the obvious pick is all you need.

When a guy starts to fall in the draft, from his average draft position overall, to where he is at in your league, it gets risky to take him. Do the other guys know something you don’t know?

That can be the case from time to time, so always read up on the latest notes before you add him to the roster. But, often times, they either don’t like the team or just don’t agree with his average draft rank.

And when that happens, I pounce. If you can get a sleeper that most people are taking a round or two higher, you can really stack a team.

Understand the roster.

Two wide receivers, two running backs, and a flex, a team D and one QB. That may be most of the rosters out there. But league managers can switch this up dramatically.

If you have to start more RBs, then those top selections will become limited faster than the average draft position.

Avoid positions with depth.

Early on in the draft,

Draft your kicker very last.

Why not? It will be the least likely position for you to pick successfully early on, so why waste a pick for a top ranked kicker when there will be kickers off the waiver wire each week crushing it. Just take that position last and then if you struck out with the pickup, play the waiver wire later on.

Don’t worry about bye weeks.

If you build a strong enough team, one weak week won’t matter. So avoid watching the bye weeks, simply take the best player for the best position every time.

Ok, enough for today. Let’s look at our lock to bet on today…

“Pick of the Day” MLB: Miami Marlins vs San Diego Padres

Tonights late game is the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres.

The Marlins won their last two against the Padres at home, but are coming off a two game losing streak on the road. They sit in last place in the East standings.

The Padres are in the thick of things out West, with a far better record. Sitting in third, they need to get some momentum and find more wins which likely starts tonight.

They can run through the Marlins, as they showed in the second game between them in San Diego with a 5-2 win.

That’s what I’m looking for tonight. A solid game from the Padres to win by more than 1.5 points.

Fanduel is paying out -125 for picking the San Diego Padres to win by 1.5 points. That means a $100 bet will have the chance to payout $80 or an 80% profit. If you are looking for an opportunity to win $100, you’ll need to bet $125 on this game.

For us to win, we need the Padres to win. If they lose, we will lose the bet.

That’s all for today.
