Today we’ll dive into the ongoing debate about who will be the Patriots starting QB for week 1, and beyond.
But make sure you don’t miss our lock of the day in the MLB, it’s between the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.
I’ll walk you through our bet after the Rundown discussion.

Mac Jones or Cam Newton Week 1
I’ve said this before, but preseason is just that, a pre season. No need to get all worked up over how good any single player looks.
So we’ll keep that mindset as we look at the Patriots steamrolling the Eagles on Thursday night football.
You knew Belichick was serious when he threw a challenge flag in a preseason game up 13-0. They were not going to let up as they went on to a dominating 35-0 performance.
Okay, so what can we take away from it.
Well, Cam was the starter and lead the Patriots for their first three drives of the game. That also means he got the work with the starting wide receivers, running backs and offensive line.
Plus, he was going against the Eagles backups.
That’s why we can’t take too much from it. They should have muscled their way through the team playing against backups.
But after Cam’s 8/9 for 103 yards and a touchdown performance, everyone is back on the Cam “the Superman” Newton bandwagon.
I’m just not feeling it.
Cam Newton is on the last legs of his career. He already has been a top QB in the league for a decade now.
When you see Mac Jones play, you know he has the mechanics a Belichick offense looks for, he is very similar to Brady though it is way to early to make any kind of comparisons.
I honestly couldn’t believe the league would let a guy like Mac fall to the Patriots in the draft without having to give up something for him. Almost an identical QB to the one you just lost, in terms of style, and he falls into their lap. Insane.
And I don’t really care who gets the start for the Patriots, I actually hope it is Newton.
Because in my fantasy league, I want to stash Mac Jones late.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Mac Jones will not be the starting QB for the Patriots this season. At the first sign of some of the struggles Newton has become famous for, it will be time for Mac Jones – and the rest will be history.
Thank me later.
“Pick of the Day” MLB: Chicago White Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays
You got to love all the MLB action that goes on at the perfect time. Who cares about NBA summer league or NFL preseason when you have MLB getting deep into the season… Not me.
We’ll still have other bets, like MLS, racing and even UFC. I don’t like the recreational type games because there’s no competitive advantage.
Players could be rested early for the sake of it, or not play at all and those that are in are fighting for a spot, but could simply be mismatched.
It’s not a game I like to play.
So we’ll focus on the MLB for a lock today.
The Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are two great teams that get to square off for the fourth time this year.
The Rays have the slightly better record, but are the underdogs at home. I think that’s a mistake.
They have won four straight at home against the Orioles and they will be ready tonight. The White Sox won two of the first three meetings in Chicago, but the Rays will be a more solid team at home.
That’s why I like the Rays for the outright win tonight.
Fanduel is paying out +102 for picking the Rays to win. That means a $100 bet will have the chance to payout $102 or a 102% profit. If you are looking for an opportunity to win $100, you’ll need to bet $99 on this game.
For us to win, we need the Tampa Bay Rays to win the game. If they lose, we lose the bet.
That’s all for today.
