The four-seed Florida State Seminoles face the number one seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs tomorrow night. The winner moves onto the elite eight, one step closer to a final four appearance and possible championship game.
It won’t be easy, and that’s the basis for our bet today.
As the tournament field narrows, wins are going to be increasingly tough to come by with any significant margin.
So far through the tournament, Captain Obvious is doing well. All the one, two and three seeds advanced to the sweet sixteen for the first time since 2009.
Pay attention, upsets are going to happen this weekend.
But, I won’t go as far as predicting where that will occur.
Instead, we are taking the widest spread in the sweet sixteen, except for the UVA-Oregon matchup – that has an 8.5 point spread.
The FSU vs Gonzaga is 7.5, with Gonzaga as the favorite.
Odds Worth Taking
Any one of the top seeds could be beat this round, and at least one big upset is likely.
But, we’ll take the Florida State Seminoles with the plus-7.5 points the book makers are giving the matchup.
Florida State played fantastic against Murray State, winning by an impressive 28 points. I expected that matchup to be much closer, but that impressive win will now help FSU roll into the matchup against Gonzaga with more confidence.
Gonzaga’s biggest win all year came against an early Duke team. They won by two points, 89-87. Since then, they lost the other two ranked teams they played prior to the NCAA tournament – UVA and UNC.
Impressive teams for sure, and understandable that they lost. FSU however is no walk in the park and a 7.5 point spread is worth taking.
At FanDuel it is paying out -110, which means a $110 bet will pay out $100. Percentage wise, this equates to a 90.91% payout if FSU simply loses by less than 7.5 points.
