The number three seeded LSU Tigers face the two seed Michigan State Spartans in what will be another tense March Madness matchup. Battling for a spot in the elite eight, this is going to be a fun one.
Our pick last night on FSU fell short. While FSU made a run in the final minutes, all it took was one more minute for Gonzaga to extend the league beyond our 7.5 point spread.
Still, I’m not giving up on betting on college hoops.
These matchups are by far the most exciting sports on TV, and we want a piece of the action.
In this matchup, Michigan State is the favorite by six points.
However, in my bracket, I have LSU Tigers advancing. Both teams have played great to get to this point.
The Tigers have squeezed by Yale and Maryland to advance to the sweet 16.
The Spartans topped two higher seeds, in Minnesota and Bradly, with a wider margin.
That has propelled Michigan to be the favorite in this matchup. As we saw with Purdue and Tennessee last night, anything can happen in March.
Don’t Bet on an Upset
But I don’t like picking upsets. While I think LSU will put up a fight to win, I will take them plus 6 points to have a smarter bet.
LSU has averaged 80 points per game, just above Michigan’s 78 points. That high powered offense will help keep them in the matchup, and possibly steal the second three seeded upset of the sweet 16.
A bet on LSU Tigers plus 6 points is paying -110, or 90.91% payout. A $110 bet is needed to win $100. If you can find a larger spread, take it. Since we are picking the underdog, a higher spread is always better because it means they could lose by more, and you would still win the bet.
