My childhood team, the New York Rangers face the Carolina Hurricanes as their homestate battles a literal hurricane.
The story line doesn’t get any better than that.
It’s also game three, of which the Carolina Hurricane’s have won the first two. That gives them a chance to advance in tonight’s matchup.
Here’s who to put your money on…
Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers
Game three of the east qualifying round has it all on the line.
The Hurricanes have been no match for the Rangers so far, but the Rangers are desperate and will not go down easy tonight.
When you look at their first two games, it’s been all hurricanes.
Dominating in shots, goals scored, faceoffs, penalties and of course, wins. The only stat they are slacking in is hits, and that’s just the frustration coming from a physical Rangers team.
Going into tonight’s game, you’d be crazy to bet on the upset.
The New York Rangers just haven’t showed the ability to beat the Hurricanes who are on fire coming out of the break.
So my money is on the Hurricanes. But FanDuel is only paying out -150 for them to win. That’s not a horrible payout, but if they win by more than one point, we can do a lot better.
The Hurricanes won 3-2 in the first game, and 4-1 in the second matchup.
Tonight, they have a chance to advance to the next round. Pressure like that can set up for more than a one point win, as the other team leaves it all no the line to go for the win.
That’s why my bet tonight is to stick with the hot hand in the Carolina Hurricanes, but also take them to cover the spread – 1.5 points.
FanDuel is paying out +190 for taking the Carolina Hurricanes to win by more than 1.5 points. That means a $100 bet, will turn into $290 if you win – a $190 profit. If you are looking to win just $100 from every bet, you only need to put $53 on this pick.
