Our “Pick of the Day” today is still in Disney’s man-made bubble, between LA Galaxy verse the Portland Timbers.
MLS has proved to be great spectating for fans as the first major U.S. team sport to get underway. NBA and NHL will soon follow, but until then we’ll keep riding other popular sports like MLS, UFC and NASCAR.
In tonight’s game, it is setting up to be a bit slow if you ask me.
Soccer is like chess, setting up to make the right counter attacks to gain an edge. Possession isn’t as important as it is in other sports like football where you can wear down the other team. Possession in soccer means you may be wearing down your own team if you are not getting the goals.
The LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers have only mustered up three total goals between the two teams in their first four combined games this year (two games each).
It’s an even matchup on offense and defense. Whoever wins, it will likely be a close one.
And that’s why I’m making a bold bet today – going for the draw.
It’s fairly common in soccer, where the score ends tied. It could be 0-0, 1-1, or any draw. Even though they are battling for a win, two teams as low scoring as these could keep the score low, and end up as a tie.
So we’ll take the odd, one-off bet that we will see a draw between LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers.
