The NBA’s play in game today is between the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers. It’s about time we get into some serious action.
With a chance to move on, it’s all on the line today and tomorrow.
If the Grizzlies win, they get another chance tomorrow to beat the Trail Blazers. But, if Portland wins, it’s one and done for the Grizzlies.
Here’s who to bet on tonight…
Memphis Grizzlies vs Portland Trail Blazers
The Grizzlies have struggled a bit since the restart, while Portland has been blazing.
Damian Lillard was on fire with 42 points against Brooklyn on Thursday. He looks to stay hot today as the Grizzlies limp into this game.
After Memphis has won just two of their eight games, and all-star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. going down with a torn meniscus, they are the underdogs by six points.
It’s a bit steep considering Memphis beat Portland in their last game before the restart. And, in Orlando, they pushed the Trail Blazers to overtime, only to come up five points short.
But that was with Jaren Jackson Jr.
Analysts expect the Grizzlies to be less powerful without him and that’s why there a six-point underdog.
Here’s the thing, they can still beat Portland.
Lillard had one heck of a game against Brooklyn, but he’s only averaged 30 points per game – no where near 40. And in the two games against the Grizzlies, he’s averaged 24.5 points.
In other words, he’s human. He will have big games, but then fall back to earth. This is one of those nights.
And Ja Morant is on the other side of the ball. Likely unanimous Rookie of the Year, he has a big incentive to show up tonight.
Because of that, I’m rolling with the Memphis Grizzlies to bounce back in game one and take this to a rematch on Sunday. I’m just not picking them to win.
Since they are the underdog, I’m happy to take them plus the six points the spread is given them. It’s a sweet deal for a team I think can rally and really put up a fight today. A win is possible, but the most probable bet is taking the Grizzlies plus six.
