Appalachian is the favorite, with a slightly weaker record due to tougher matchups.
They only played one ranked team this season, 10th ranked Tennessee and got blown out.
Neither of these two teams, playing for the 16 seed, are going another step in the tournament. But for one game, they get to leave it all on the line and it’s going to be fun to watch.
Norfolk has averaged five more points per game, and allowed about the same amount. With the slightly better statistics and record, riding a seven game win streak needing just one more to play in the first round, I’m rolling with Norfolk.
I’m betting on a close one and that has me taking the Norfolk St Spartans plus 3.5 points.
