“Pick of the Day” UFC: Calvin Kattar vs Dan Ige

“Pick of the Day” UFC: Calvin Kattar vs Dan Ige

Fight Island is back in Abu Dhabi. And it brings you your next “Pick of the Day.” The UFC main event between Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige in the octagon is our top bet.

This fight night is littered with great fights, but the main event is poised to be the highlight.

Calvin Kattar has enormous strength and can land knockout blows on the best of them. Meanwhile, Dan Ige is on a 6-0 win streak, ready to take it up a notch.

Here’s your best bets for the main event.

UFC Main Event – Calvin Kattar vs Dan Ige

Calvin Kattar is the clear favorite. The odds makers are paying out -310 for him to win. They are practically telling you to go with the guy that hasn’t lost in 2.5 years, Dan Ige. His payout his +250.

And if I thought Ige was going to win, I’d take that bet all day.

While he is a rising start in UFC, his last two wins were close – split decisions, with much weaker opponents. Now he steps in the ring with Kattar, a top 10 fighter in their division.

It’s a true test for both fighters, but I’m leaning towards the more experienced Kattar to end this one before the final bell.

Because I don’t like betting on -310 odds for the favorite. Instead, I’ll take the KO/TKO finish.

FanDuel is paying out -105 for a Calvin Kattar win by KO/TKO. A $105 bet will net you a $100 profit. If you bet $100, you’ll have a chance to win $95.

But let’s not stop there.

We know Ige is an up-and-comer, so I like to throw a few bucks down on him too. But I also don’t see that going to a decision. If Ige is going to win in the UFC fight, it’s going to be after wearing down Kattar in a five round bout, and getting a submission in the final two rounds.

FanDuel is paying out +900. A small $20 bet pays out $180 if somehow Ige can win by submission. But it’s my favorite way to bet on the upset. I don’t Ige winning by points or KO against a tough Kattar, but a submission – that’s his strength with a wrestling style.

More than a third of Ige’s 14 wins have come from submission.

I know it’s a stretch, but if I like Ige’s chances of going 7-0 in the UFC, I think he’s got to bring the heavy hitter to the flow, and tangle him up. A long shot, but worth the small bet if you like Ige in this one.

Overall, I see it falling Kattar’s way. The odds makers know that, and they are trying to juice the bets towards Ige, who is on a hot streak. I’ll stick with the veteran tonight though.
