Weekend Edge: Canes Eye Cup Clincher Sunday + Yankees/Dodgers MLB Edge (June 12-14)

DSB Weekend Edge — Stanley Cup Final Game 6 + MLB Edge

The Stanley Cup is one win away from being raised in Vegas — but the Hurricanes are the team holding the hammer. Carolina takes a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 Sunday night with a chance to clinch on the road, while the Yankees ride a four-game heater into Toronto tonight without Stanton or Dominguez. This is a sharp weekend with cleanly priced lines and a few props that pop. Let’s get to work.

Weekend Betting Insights

The marquee event is Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on ABC Sunday night — Carolina at Vegas, puck drop 8 PM ET. The Hurricanes have won three straight to flip the series, their forecheck is suffocating Vegas’s transition game, and Frederik Andersen looks locked in. Vegas is the desperate home dog, but desperation cuts both ways when a road team is finally getting bounces in the offensive zone. The number opened around Carolina -110 / Vegas -110 and has moved slightly toward the Canes at -115. That’s still a fair price on a team that’s controlled five-on-five play for three games in a row.

On the diamond, the Yankees roll into Rogers Centre on a four-game win streak with Ryan Weathers (2-4, 3.86) on the hill against rookie Trey Yesavage. Toronto’s offense has been streaky and the Yankees have done all this without Giancarlo Stanton (calf) and Jasson Dominguez (shoulder). Live -104 chalk on a hot road team in a coin-flip park is fine value, and the total at 8.0 leans under given both starters’ recent strand rates. Saturday’s L.A. trip to Chicago is the easy throw-the-Dodgers spot — Ohtani in particular looks priced under his projected total bases against a depleted White Sox staff.

One macro angle to track: U.S. Open week kicks off Thursday at Oakmont. We’re not betting it tonight, but I’ll have a futures + matchup card before the first tee box. Bookmark the site.

FEATURED PICK 1 — NHL

Carolina Hurricanes ML @ Vegas Golden Knights (-115) — Game 6 Stanley Cup Final · Sun 8 PM ET ABC

Stanley Cup Final Game 6 graphic

THE PLAY: Carolina moneyline on the road in Game 6 to lift the Cup.

THE LINE: CAR -115 / VGK -105, total 5.5 (-115 over / -105 under).

WHY: The Canes have won three straight by leaning on their forecheck and out-shooting Vegas in every game of the run. Andersen is in vintage form. Vegas is hurting and was never going to win a slow, structured series — they need broken hockey, and Carolina simply doesn’t give it to them. Take the Canes and don’t look back.

FEATURED PICK 2 — MLB

New York Yankees ML @ Toronto Blue Jays (-104) — Fri 7:37 PM ET YES/Sportsnet

MLB Yankees at Blue Jays graphic

THE PLAY: Yankees moneyline on the road.

THE LINE: NYY -104 / TOR -112, total 8.0.

WHY: Four-game win streak without Stanton and Dominguez means the lineup is producing without its boppers — that’s a sustainable trend, not a fluke. Weathers’ xERA is well under his ERA, and Yesavage’s MLB debut sample is small enough to fade. Live -104 chalk on a hot team in a neutral park is a number I’ll take.

Player Props — Weekend Card

PROP 1 — MLB
Aaron Judge
OVER 1.5 Total Bases
Judge has lived against right-handed rookies — Yesavage hangs sliders when behind in the count.
PROP 2 — NHL
Sebastian Aho
OVER 0.5 Points (Game 6)
Aho is averaging a point per game in the Final and centers the line that’s been on the ice for most of Carolina’s high-danger looks.
PROP 3 — MLB
Shohei Ohtani
OVER 1.5 Total Bases (Sat)
Dodgers travel to Chicago with the White Sox staff banged up. Ohtani’s barrel rate vs RHP this month is elite — expect at least a double or two singles.
PROP 4 — MLB
Yankees / Blue Jays
UNDER 8.5 Total (Fri)
Both bullpens are rested, both starters have been stranding runners at high rates, and the dome plays neutral when the roof is open at first pitch.
